Marco Musiani has served in the Italian Chemical Society, Electrochemistry Division as member of the National Board (1993-95), Secretary-Treasurer (1996-98), President (2014-16), and is now serving as Past President (2017-2019). He is a member of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) since 1990 and has been the ISE National Secretary of Italy (1998-2003). Since 2004 he is serving as Executive Secretary of the ISE. He is Co-chair of the Organizing Committee of the ISE Annual Meeting 2018, Bologna, September 2018.

The research of Marco Musiani has been focussed on the electrochemical synthesis and characterization of thin-film materials, especially in the following areas: Corrosion protection of metals by electropolymerised films, In-situ spectroscopic studies on the action of corrosion inhibitors, Transport properties and electrochemical reactivity of conducting polymer films, Electrodeposition of metals, alloys and composites, Electrodissolution and passivation of metals, New materials for catalysis and electrocatalysis, Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Marco Musiani is author of over 190 peer-reviewed papers and 4 patents. His H-index is 47 (Google Scholar).
