BIOGRAPHY
Giovanna Latronico is an Italian materials scientist specializing in thermoelectric materials. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at CNR-ICMATE in Lecco, Italy, working on the project INAIL SMART-SHIRT (SMART materials and technologies for thermal-stress & physio-monitoring SHIRT). Previously, she was a JSPS postdoctoral researcher at Shibaura Institute of Technology in Japan, focusing on enhancing thermoelectric conversion in Co-free skutterudites.
She holds a master degree in Chemical Sciences from University of Genova (Italy) and a PhD in Engineering from Shibaura Institute of Technology, where she extensively researched the synthesis and characterization of thermoelectric thin films. Her work includes optimizing deposition techniques like Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) and investigating the effects of doping on thermoelectric properties. She has undertaken multiple international research collaborations, including internships Dillard University in New Orleans (USA) and National Institute for Materials Science in Tsukuba (Japan).
She has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Young Author Award from the Italian Thermoelectric Society and the Best Presentation Awards at both the 1st Japan-France Virtual Workshop on Thermoelectrics – VWT and the Shibaura IT 1st IRCGE Workshop. She has contributed to high-impact publications and frequently presents at international conferences on thermoelectrics, nanomaterials, and sustainable energy solutions.
