BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1980, degree cum laude in Chemical Engineering at Genoa University (2004), PhD in Space Science and Engineering (2008) with a thesis on: “Ceramic Thermal Protection System and metal-ceramic joining technologies”, research fellow (2007), and researcher (since 2009) at CNR-ICMATE.

His research is focused on basic and applied materials science studies with specific reference to the behavior of molten metals in contact to ceramics (i.e. wetting phenomena) and metal-ceramic interphases at high temperature. His activity also includes ceramic joining by brazing, transient liquid phase bonding and soldering.

Involved in several National and European Projects with both scientific and managing roles (e.g. coordinator of EU H2020 M-Era.Net 2 project INSURFCAST) and author or co-author of many papers and lectures at international conferences. He is also involved in dissemination activities as author of scientific workshops for the general public (e.g. Festival della Scienza, EU Researcher’s Night).

He served as supervisor of students and visiting scientist; guest-editor and referee for international journals; member of scientific committees and advisory boards (e.g. High Temperature Capillarity); organizer of symposia at international conferences (e.g. Euromat, CALPHAD); evaluator of industrial projects financed by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development and of international scientific proposals. Since 2023 he is a member of the ICMATE Institute Board.
