BIOGRAPHY

Marco has been a Researcher at CNR-ICMATE since 2024. With a background in inorganic chemistry, he earned his MSc in the field from the University of Genoa in 2020. He further advanced his studies by completing a PhD in Sciences and Technologies of Chemistry and Materials at the same institution in 2024. His doctoral research focused on the design and synthesis of Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) as novel electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries and post-lithium devices. During this period, he has established a long-standing collaboration with the “Karlsruhe Institut für Technologie “as a visiting student.

His research primarily revolves around the synthesis and characterization of oxides and hydroxides for various applications, ranging from water treatment to electrochemistry. Throughout his career, he has gained expertise in laboratory-scale material synthesis techniques, including coprecipitation and hydro/solvothermal methods. He has also developed proficiency in composite-electrodes preparation, button cell and T-cell assembly.

Marco is skilled in several characterization techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, and standard electrochemical tests, including cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic cycling. Additionally, he has experience with advanced electrode characterization methods, including in-operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy using synchrotron light and in-operando X-ray diffraction.
