BIOGRAPHY

He received M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, in 2009. Since 2010 he has been working at the CNR in Lecco. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2017 with a research project, shared between CNR ICMATE and Politecnico di Milano, about the exploitation of the nonlinear characteristics of pseudoelastic materials and the design and fabrication of wearable customised devices for the rehabilitation of patients affected by neurological diseases.

He has developed specific expertise in optimising functional metallic materials and devising specialised tools for their processing. Leveraging the biomedical engineering background, he could develop shape memory alloys-based devices for neuromuscular rehabilitation, collaborating closely with medical institutions and private firms. Multiple projects shared with hospitals demonstrate the efficacy of these devices in treating spasticity and movement disorders in many clinical trials. His interdisciplinary work spans dynamic orthotic and robotic systems, biomechanical evaluations, and neuroscience studies, aiming at personalised therapeutic interventions. Currently his focus in research is in multimaterial prosthetics and wearable devices for sports. Additionally, he is working on sport biomechanics, devising protocols for precise motor task evaluation to enhance athlete performance and safety. He took part actively in more than 15 interdisciplinary financed research projects aimed at the design and testing of material-inspired devices and biorobotic systems for neurorehabilitation, dynamic prosthetics, and (para)sports.
