Degree in Chemistry cum laude (1996), PhD in Chemical Sciences (2000) and Post-doc fellow (2000-01) in Padova University, Italy. Appointed as CNR Researcher (2001), since 2020 he is Research Director at ICMATE-CNR. Professor/Lecturer for PhD/Material Schools and for Chemistry courses in Padova University (1999-2022); member of the Supervision Board for the PhD school in Information Engineering (Brescia University). Since 2022, member of ICMATE-CNR supporting group for the technological transfer of research results.
He is/has been component of expert evaluation panels for research products and projects (ERC, NSF, AAPG, UEFISCDI, …), as well as scientific coordinator/local responsible of national/international research projects and industrial contractships. He is member of the International EUROCVD Board and of the Editorial Boards of Materials and Surface Science Spectra. He was european editor of Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2013-21) and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Letters (2009-21). He is/was tutor of BSc/MSc/PhD theses, responsible for PhD/Post-Doc formation, member of Scientific/Organizing Committees of various conferences, and of the E-MRS Board of Delegates (2016-19).
His scientific activity on multi-functional inorganic nanosystems for sustainability and energy applications is documented by > 340 papers (H-index = 58) and >30 invited talks/seminars. He was awarded various prizes, including the Vincenzo Caglioti–Accademia dei Lincei Prize (2008), the CNR Prize for Strategic/Excellence Results (2009), and the Italian SAPIO Junior Prize (2010). He has been included among the Top Italian Scientists in Chemistry (TIS) and the Top 2% World Scientists – Stanford University – Italia Career (2019-21).
