BIOGRAPHY

I graduated with honors in Materials Science from the University of Padua in 2004. I received my Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Padua in 2008. I obtained the International Master’s Degree in Surface Treatments for Industrial Applications in 2009. Since 2010, I have been a researcher at CNR-ICMATE.

I am involved in the development of nano-micrometric functional coatings; the study of mechanical, tribological and tribo-chemical properties of materials; plasma-chemical treatments of surfaces and their broad characterization.

I study materials and coatings for harsh environments, characterized by the presence of heavy liquid metals, plasmas, high temperatures, oxidizing/corrosive/H₂-containing atmospheres, etc. Some application fields are nuclear (fission and fusion), automotive, aerospace and manufacturing, wind power, and hydrogen.

I have had several interactions with local companies; as scientific manager of CNR-ICMATE, I participated in the Veneto Region/POR-FESR 2014-2020 project “AGILE manufacturing for competitiveness and product innovation.” Since 2010, I have been an evaluator of industrial research projects for the US Department of Energy (DOE SBIR/STTR Programs).

I am involved in training programs for high school students; I have been a co-supervisor for bachelor’s and doctoral theses; I have been a member of several committees for the allocation of job positions and a member of doctoral committees at the Universities of Padua and Ferrara. Since 2019, I have been the Italian representative of the Thin Film Technical Division of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA, https://iuvsta.org/).

Her activity includes the study of:

coatings development via PVD-Magnetron Sputtering (MS) technolgies. I have proven experience on the use of Direct Current MS (DCMS), Radio Frequency MS (RFMS) and High-Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) techniques, both in inert and reactive atmospheres.

topological (profilometry), morphological (Scanning Electron Microscopy-SEM), compositional (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy-X-EDS) and microstructural (X-Ray Diffraction-XRD) characterization of materials.

BIOGRAPHY

Graduated in 2006 at the University of Padua in Materials Engineering with 110/110 cum laude, she obtained a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering in 2010, dealing with metallic nanoparticles and electrochemistry.

She has assisted numerous students and undergraduates in their internship period and has trained in the metallurgical sector thanks to doctoral schools and courses of the Italian Association of Metallurgy (AIM), in which she is today an active member of the Technical Committee of Tribology and Coatings.

After her PhD she worked for a year in the private sector dealing with industrial metrology and computed tomography applied to industrial materials and products.

Subsequently she joined the CNR, first in IENI-CNR as a research fellow, then in ICMATE-CNR, as a fixed-term researcher, and then finally obtained the position of permanent researcher in 2016.

Her current activity is in the materials sector for the energy and biomedical sectors. After having gained consolidated experience in the tribological and tribochemical fields, as well as in the related characterization techniques, you currently deal with tribology, surface mechanical and topological characterization and surface conversion methodologies, such as PVD film deposition and plasma treatments.

In ICMATE she also plays an active role in the field of scientific dissemination and communication, she is part of the Communication Group and is the designer and contact person of the institute website. She is also involved in training as a teacher on courses organized by AIM, co-supervisor of degree theses and tutor for student internships.
