ICMATE actively works in the conservation of artefacts of historical interest through an in-depth knowledge of the materials, the interactions with the surrounding environment, as well as the evaluation of degradation phenomena. ICMATE activities take place both in situ and in the laboratory, using contactless or micro-invasive techniques and guaranteeing a complete approach to the study of materials and historical-artistic artefacts.
ICMATE is involved in the development of innovative materials for consolidation and protection as well as innovative and eco-compatible materials, such as geopolymers, for the consolidation and structural reinforcement of historic buildings, also contributing to improving the energy efficiency of these structures.
